REGINA - The Queen City Ex is almost set to get under way at the REAL District grounds in Regina.
The QCX opens tomorrow, June 30 at noon and runs to Sunday, Aug. 3. Already, evidence that the Ex is back is in abundance on the REAL grounds, as the midway rides from their new ride provider, West Coast Amusements, were already being set up. West Coast Amusements were doing finishing touches at the scene on Tuesday.
According to the QCX news release, the QCX Midway - Majorland will “feature all the favourites and some new rides. This is another great opportunity to relive some of those memories and create new ones with family and friends.”
A highlight will be the return of The Zipper, which had gone away recently under the previous ride provider. Other rides include:
Alien Abduction Rockstar, Carousel Sizzler, Cliffhanger Speed, Fireball Supershot, Freak Out Tilt-a-Whirl, Frenzy Tornado, Gondola Wheel Vertigo, Himalaya Yo-yo, Hurricane Zero Gravity, Khaos Zipper and Mardi Gras. It runs from noon to 10:30 pm daily.
Also offered this year is Winmar Kiddieland, which will feature several amusements for kids from noon to 10:30 p.m. daily, dependent on weather.
Also coming this year is the Original 16 Stage lineup with the following Canadian acts: July 30 – Blue Rodeo: Presented by Sherwood Co-op with Media Partner 620 CKRM; July 31 – The Reklaws; August 1 – The Glorious Sons: Presented by SaskMilk with Media Partner 104.9 The Wolf; Saturday, August 2 – Sam Roberts Band Presented by Prairie Mobile with Media Partner 104.9 The Wolf; August 3 – Bif Naked and Kim Mitchell.
General admission is included with a QCX Gate Admission Pass to all Original 16 Stage concerts. For an upgraded concert experience QCX Fan Zone Passes are available online for $22 per show.
Lots of food options are available this year and include such items as the Fruity Pebble Corndog, the Buffalo Chicken Poutine, Dill Pickle Mini Donuts, Ketchup Crunch Corn Dogs, the Meatza-Mozza Corn Dog, Ube Coconut Little Donuts, Cotton Candy Creations, Spicy Dill Pickle Cotton Candy and Dubai Chocolate Strawberries.
