REGINA — Five people were arrested after Regina Police Service responded to a reported robbery in progress near Eighth Avenue and Princess Street.
On Aug. 10, at approximately 8:15 a.m., officers were dispatched for a report of a robbery in progress. When they arrived on scene, they met with the male victim, who told police he was standing on the street when a vehicle drove by, circled the block, and then came back and stopped in front of him. A male suspect exited the vehicle, approached the victim and attempted to grab the chain from around his neck. The victim was able to back away and contact police.
Approximately 20 minutes later, police observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of a business in the 900-block of East Victoria Avenue.
Officers approached the vehicle and arrested all five occupants. In a search of the vehicle, they seized a loaded shotgun, a rifle, ammunition, seven knives, a hatchet, bear spray, drugs, items used in drug trafficking, and cash.
Steven Breen, 47, is charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime, two counts each of storing a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition in a vehicle, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, and failing to comply with a probation order.
Nicholas Bender, 25, is charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime, two counts each of storing a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition in a vehicle, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, seven counts of breach of a firearms prohibition order, breach of probation, and failing to comply with a release order.
Jordan Fayant, 31, is charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime, two counts each of storing a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition in a vehicle, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, three counts of breach of a firearms prohibition order, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drugs, and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
Bradley Ledoux, 38, is charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime, two counts each of storing a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition in a vehicle, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, five counts of breach of a firearms prohibition order, and failing to comply with a release order.
Autrumnrain Sangwais, 21, is charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime, and two counts each of storing a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition in a vehicle, and possession of a loaded prohibited firearm.
All five made their first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on Aug. 11.
