Police seek surveillance video from area near shooting of child

Preliminary investigation shows multiple gunshots were fired at a residence from outside. Inside, an 11-year-old girl was found injured.

REGINA — The investigation into a firearms offence that resulted in serious injuries to an 11-year-old girl continues.

Regina Police Service says, among many other investigative tasks, officers are reviewing hours of surveillance video obtained from the area around the scene. Investigators are renewing their request for surveillance video and broadening the area.

The investigation began when officers were called to a residence in the 1000 block of Edgar Street shortly after 2 a.m. on Aug. 11. They found an 11-year-old female inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound and she was taken to hospital by EMS with serious injuries, says the RPS.

Preliminary investigation shows multiple gunshots were fired at the residence from outside the residence, but police say that at this time there appears to be no risk to the general public.
