REGINA – The Regina Police Service (RPS) is calling this year’s Queen City Ex (QXC) a success after officers helped ensure public safety during the five-day fair at the REAL District from July 30 to Aug. 3.

A mix of uniformed and plain-clothes officers patrolled the event , contributing to a low number of incidents despite large crowds.

Police responded to a range of calls, including:

-76 missing children returned safely to their caregivers/families

-5 Altercations (assaults, robbery, other disturbance)

-1 Possession of a concealed weapon (possession, but not use of, bear spray)

-1 Theft under $5,000

-1 mischief

-1 Intoxicated person

-11 Other (traffic, breaches, etc.)

“The relatively small number of incidents is a testament to police presence as a deterrent, excellent work by REAL Security and the positive choices made by those attending the fair,” said Lindsey Hoemsen, spokesperson for RPS in a media release. “The Regina Police Service wishes to thank the public, along with REAL Staff/Security for a great event. We look forward to next year.”
