SASKATOON — Wednesday in Saskatoon, three people were taken to hospital after being assaulted, including a stabbing victim.

At around 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 3, police were called to the area of 22nd Street West and Avenue T North for a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to hospital for treatment of what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigation determined that the victim had been walking in the area when he was approached by three suspects who robbed and stabbed him before fleeing the area. The victim was unable to provide suspect descriptions at the time. Members of the Serious Assault Unit are now investigating.

Another incident Wednesday also resulted in a victim being transported to hospital following an assault., and five people were arrested, say Saskatoon police.

At around 2:15 p.m. on Sept. 3, police were called to the 500 block of Avenue W South for a report of a possible weapon involved in an altercation. They say a man was sitting in a vehicle when he was approached by a woman who began banging on the door. He exited the vehicle and a verbal confrontation ensued.

Police say they were told four men then joined the woman and converged on the male victim, knocked him to the ground, and began assaulting him before stealing his property and fleeing in different directions.

Responding officers located all five suspects in the nearby vicinity and arrested them without incident; a search of their persons found one bladed weapon and methamphetamine, say police. The male victim was transported to hospital by paramedics for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, four men, age 26, 40, and two age 39, and a 33-year-old woman have been charged with robbery. The 40-year-old man was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, being at large on a release order, and failure to comply with court-imposed conditions.
