Two charged after weapons calls in Saskatoon

It was reported to police that a gun was lying next to a sleeping man on King Street.

In one case, the weapon turned out to be an imitation firearm, and in the other it was an air pistol.

SASKATOON — Two people are charged after separate weapons calls responded to by Saskatoon police officers Tuesday.

At approximately 11 a.m., July 29, patrol officers were dispatched to a report of a woman brandishing a firearm during an altercation with a male outside of a mall in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South. Upon arrival, police located the suspect in an alley in the 100 block of 2nd Avenue South. Upon her arrest, say police, they determined the weapon she was in possession of to be an imitation firearm.

The 20-year-old female is charged with possession of a weapon for purpose of committing an offence.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m., July 29, patrol officers responded to a report of a firearm that was located next to a sleeping male in the 10 block of King Street. Upon arrival, police located the male, awake and sitting near the train tracks. Police located a firearm nearby, which was determined to be an air pistol. Further investigation confirmed he also had an outstanding warrant.

The 30-year-old male is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon.
