ASSINIBOIA -  The Town of Assiniboia hosted a Volunteer Recognition brunch on April 22 in honour of the volunteers of Assiniboia. The brunch was hosted at the Prince of Wales Centre and was catered by Fresh Start.

Mayor Sharon Schauenberg gave a speech at the start of the event and spoke about her experiences, the many events put on in Assiniboia throughout 2022, and the benefits, statistics, and effects of volunteering and the impacts it makes on our communities.

Saskatchewan Health Authority was also part of the event, and spoke on volunteering as well as their programs in the community.

There was a slideshow that highlighted the many different volunteers and organizations that contribute to many events, programs, and initiatives in Assiniboia through the years at the front that played throughout the event as well.

The speeches ended with a door prize, which was won by Alison Lewis. Fresh Start provided many options for food, from baked good to fresh fruit and parfaits. Also several hot items choices – hashbrowns, pancakes, waffles, bacon and more! The brunch was very well received by everyone and was a great networking opportunity between all the volunteers who attended. The Town of Assiniboia distributed over 100 free tickets for the event and it was well attended.
