Well, it is officially that time of year again The store shelves that once held inflatable swimming wings, margarita mixes, sunscreen and bug spray are now home to row-after-row of backpacks, calculators and rulers.

Dubbed the "Bummer Summer" by British Columbian standards, it's been a cool, wet first half of the year. Personally I haven't missed the scorching temperatures blanketing much of the continent but I can't say the same for the garden.

Cannington Manor will host its annual fair on July 31 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Two members of council met with White Bear First Nations last week to discuss employment opportunities. The preliminary meeting is hoped to establish a partnership between the two entities.

Despite the rain, Manor Fun Daze was a success on July 23. The 32nd annual event was threatened by rain throughout the morning, however the rain seemed to 'break' just in time for the events scheduled through the day.
