Club to host polio fundraiser on Rotary Day

The Weyburn Rotary Club recently had March 30 proclaimed as Rotary Day in Weyburn and will host a concert to eradicate polio to celebrate.

During Rotary Day, the club is hosting a Polio Plus Fundraiser featuring Gary Fjellgaard with Saskia and Darrel at the Weyburn Comprehensive School.

The Weyburn Rotary Club recently had March 30 proclaimed as Rotary Day in Weyburn and will host a concert to eradicate polio to celebrate.

The club is hosting the Polio Plus Fundraiser, featuring a performance by Juno award winning Gary Fjellgaard along with Saskatchewan songwriters Darrel and Saskia, at the Weyburn Comprehensive School beginning at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the performance are $20, children 12-and-under get in for $10. Tickets are available at the Weyburn Legion Lounge, R.J. Smoke Shop at City Centre Mall, and from any Rotarian. Anyone wishing to donate directly to the cause can contact any Rotarian or Club President Gary Anderson.

The local club recently awarded approximately $43,000 to several local groups and charities; altogether donating $48,000 this fiscal year.
