WEYBURN - The last day to vote in the 2023 edition of the James Weir People’s Choice art exhibition is Friday, March 17, at 5 p.m. at the Weyburn Art Gallery located in the Credit Union Spark Centre.
There are entries in a wide variety of mediums on display, and ballots can be cast for the viewer’s top three choices.
Voting can also be done online at www.surveylegend.com/s/4o5n.
The reception for the People’s Choice exhibition will be held at the art gallery on Thursday, March 23 at 7 p.m.
The top three winners will be announced at that time, along with details of how many people voted in this year’s competition.
The Weyburn Art Gallery is also showing the “Standing Up Against Racism” art exhibit, organized by the Southeast Newcomers Services office in Weyburn, featuring local artists’ works. This exhibit is on from now until April 28.
Fibre art work by Weyburn artist Jaynie Himsl is also on display in the upper gallery space, visible from the walking track area on the second level of the Credit Union Spark Centre.
A new exhibit will open with a reception on Thursday, March 30, to replace the People’s Choice exhibit. The new exhibit is by artist Monique Martin, and will feature thousands of silk-screened butterflies suspended in flight in the gallery.
Registration is also now open for the eighth annual Gifted Summer Art Market, to be held at Jubilee Park on July 8.
The event is curated for handmade contest and is open to all artisans. Registration for Gifted is open until May 19.
