The Family Place, St. Dominic Savio and the employees of the Weyburn Co-op will host a benefit brunch for the James and Shauna Donison family on Sunday, Dec. 19.

The brunch runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McKenna Hall and includes pancakes, sausages, muffins and beverages for $6 per person.

Riley Donison, the eight-year-old son of James and Shauna, and a Grade 3 student at St. Dominic Savio has been sent to Pasqua Hospital for radiation and chemotherapy for a fast-growing tumor.

James works as a delivery person for the Weyburn Co-op. Last year he donated a kidney to enable a life-giving transplant for a family member, and during recuperation had to take time off work. James will be off work to stay by Riley's side during the treatments at the hospital.

The family needs community support, as in addition to Riley they have a three-year old daughter, Kira, and a baby, Brina, who was born on Nov. 8. Monetary donations will be used by the family to pay their bills for necessities, such as their home, food, travel to the hospital, and other bills.

At the benefit brunch there will be a silent auction. There is also a Donison Family Trust Fund set up at the Weyburn Credit Union. For more information, contact the Family Place, who will coordinate this community effort.
