Gala night for James Weir exhibit

The top 10 artists of the James Weir People's Choice art exhibition will be announced during a public gala held Monday, Jan. 31, at the Allie Griffin Art Gallery at 7 p.m.


The top 10 artists of the James Weir People's Choice art exhibition will be announced during a public gala held Monday, Jan. 31, at the Allie Griffin Art Gallery at 7 p.m.

Residents who still want to vote for the exhibition will have until noon that same day.

This is the 28th year of the exhibition. Voting in the exhibition was held from Jan. 4 to 31, with many artists from southeast Saskatchewan featured in the annual competition.

Mediums in the exhibition ranged from photography to steel and woodwork to stained glass. Artists who participated include Barry Lautner, Deanna Kolbinson, Jon Gillies, Marna McManus, Murray Pawlak, Tina Hudson, Barry Styre, Shelly Babiarz, Jaynie Himsl, Max Himsl, Jean Fahlman, Erna Murray, Kathryn Groshong, George David, Shelly van de Sype, Elnora Olan, Jennifer Mang, Heather van der Breggen, Margaret Zelionka, Donn Morton, Tory Metheral, Oscar Rios, Diego Rios, Nicole Griffin, Bill Caird and Geraldine Taylor.

Also on display at the exhibition will be pieces from Doris Anderson and Colette Horack, who placed second and third in last year's James Weir People's Choice. Their pieces are for show only and were not eligible for voting.
