Organizers gear up for Weyburn Rotary Carol Festival

The Weyburn Carol Festival will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4, with performances at 2 and 7 p.m.

WEYBURN – A longtime Weyburn tradition, the Festival of Carols, is gearing up for its 69th annual performance on Sunday, Dec. 4 at Grace United Church.

Many residents consider this the start of the Christmas season in Weyburn, and the Weyburn Rotary Club wants that tradition to continue on.

The club took over organizing of the festival after the Weyburn Quota Club wrapped up operations, and a former Quotarian, Heather Sidloski, has joined with Rotary to bring continuity to this long-standing event.

Currently the Carol Festival will run with two performances, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Nine groups have signed on to perform so far, but Sidloski said she’d like to see more community, school and church groups come and take part, with the goal to have at least 12 groups perform.

Each of the two performances will start with a time of community singing before getting into the program.

There is no admission, but a silver collection will be taken at the door, and any funds raised will go to support local organizations in Weyburn.

Any groups or performers who would like to take part in the Carol Festival can contact Sidloski at her email, at hsidloski@hotmail.com.
