WEYBURN – One of Canada’s most recognizable voices, singer Chantal Kreviazuk, will be bringing her sold-out Christmas show to Weyburn’s Cugnet Centre stage on Monday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m.

She released her first Christmas album, “Christmas Is A Way of Life, My Dear”, in 2019, and she will be performing a number of songs as the second presentation of the Weyburn Concert Series.

Kreviazuk had originally been slated to perform a year ago, but COVID interfered and cancelled the 2020-21 season of the Concert Series.

When she released her Christmas album, she commented, “The world could use the Christmas spirit all year long. The kindness, gentleness and thoughtfulness that goes with the season is so healthy. The world could benefit from living by the values that radiate during Christmas.”

Her album has five original songs, along with classics including “Walking in a Winter Wonderland”, “Silent Night”, “Blue Christmas” and “Wonderful Christmas Time”.

Kreviazuk recently released a new album, “Hard Sail”, her first new work in seven years, with her new single, “Into Me”.

She has had collaborations with a number of superstars since her last album, Plain Jane, in 2009, with such artists as Drake, Pitbull, Christina Aguilera, Carrie Underwood, Kendrick Lamar and Pink.

She first broke onto the music scene in 1998 when she sang her version of “Leaving on a Jet Plane” on the soundtrack for the movie, “Armageddon”, and went on to release 15 hits in the years since, including “Surrounded” and “All I Can Do”.

She has won JUNO awards, and in 2014 she and husband Raine Maida (frontman for Our Lady Peace) were made members of the Order of Canada.
