Weyburn Relay For Life looking for teams for 2011 event

The Relay For Life, one of the year's major fundraisers for the Southeast Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society, will be held in River Park on Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11.

The Relay For Life, one of the year's major fundraisers for the Southeast Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society, will be held in River Park on Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11.

Committee members have already been busy organizing for this event in the hopes of making this another successful year in the fight against cancer, and are looking for teams to begin signing up.

There will be a team captains' meeting held on Monday, Mar. 28 at 7 p.m., at the Cancer Society office at 114 Third Street.

Penny Tochor is the chairperson for this meeting, and is hoping "anyone who has already registered or is thinking about registering a team to please plan on attending. We will help anyone who might need help in registering their team, giving suggestions on fundraising ideas or any other concerns they may have."

She added the Relay for Life's goal this year is to have 33 teams sign up. Each team consists of eight to 10 people who are committed to staying awake all night with someone always walking around the track, "which represents that cancer does not sleep."

Team captain kits or more information can be obtained by contacting the Cancer Society office, Penny, or by dropping in on the Team Captains meeting on Mar. 28.
