Weyburn's CU Spark Centre arts, rec programs underway

Some programs got underway in the past week, more are coming in the new year

Before and after school programs are underway this week at the Credit Union Spark Centre in Weyburn, and a number of programs are coming soon for recreation and arts activities.

Before school programs for those aged four to eight, and nine to 13, will begin on Nov. 29, and the after school Weyburn 360 programs for the same two age groups will also begin on Nov. 29. Registrations for both of these programs opened on Nov. 1.

The program Creating Together, an art program for a child and an adult, began on Nov. 17. A Date Night art program got underway on Nov. 19, with activities including building a clay coffee cup, still life drawing or beginning portraiture.

A program for families to make clay Christmas ornaments, will open for registration on Nov. 27 with the session set for Saturday, Dec. 11 from 1-3 p.m.

In the new year, adult pottery classes will run from Jan. 14 to Feb. 25, with registration to open on Jan. 2. This will run every Friday evening from 6-9 p.m.

A kids clay program, with age categories of six to eight and nine to 12, will run from Sundays from Jan. 16 to Feb. 6, with registration opening on Jan. 2.

A Pre-K pottery class will also be offered on Sundays from 11 a.m. to noon from Jan. 23 to Feb. 6, and registrations will open on Jan. 9.

A class to learn how to make a mug will be offered for all those aged 16 and up, and it will be held on Thursday, Dec. 16, with registration opening on Dec. 2.

There are numerous drop-in programs offered throughout each week for all age categories, offering time on the turf, in the mini-gym, walking-running track or on the play structure.
