Bonding to School: Young person cares about her or his school.

Mrs. MacDougall has very graciously filled in for Mr. Perry, as long as she can, but cannot stay. Therefore, a new teacher has been hired to replace Mr. Perry for as long as necessary. Ms. Ward started teaching the grade 4 class on Tuesday, January 29th. We give her a warmwelcome and are sure she will be a great addition to the staff here at CES!

Dress Up Day!! On January 31st, the SRC is having another spirit day! On this day, the kids are encouraged to dress up as anything that ends in "er" or "or"! (For example: Farmer, Doctor, Hockey Player, etc.) Be as creative as you want to be!!

Team Up for Telemiracle. The SRC would like to encourage all our students to wear a favorite sport team jersey or hat on Friday, March 1st, at a cost of $2.00 per student. The money raised will go to KinsmenTelemiracle which takes place March 2nd and 3rd this year. Show your support of your favorite team and support a worthy cause too!

The students of Mrs. MacDonald's Grade 1 class have undertaken a project to adopt a snowy owl through the World Wildlife Federation (WWF). The kids decided on three activities to raise the money for this. They are donating their gently used books and toys to sell, and will also have a lemonade/iced tea sale. All items for sale will be 25 cents. Please keep these dates in mind and send your kids with some change to shop at the Grade 1M sales! All extra money earned will be donated to WWF. Friday, Jan 25th, 2pm, Library - Book Sale. Thursday, Jan 31st , 2pm, Library - Toy Sale. Friday, Feb 8th, noon, by kitchen - Lemonade Sale

Yoga for Learning, Yoga for Lunch! 4 Sessions of yoga are offered to the grade 4 students! The dates are on the calendar on the reverse side, and the monthly calendar on the website will be updated with any changes. Students need to wear loose-fitting clothing, and may bring a yoga mat if they have one. The kids meet in the gym on the stage at noon immediately after class. Students must bring their own lunches or their hot lunch, which they will eat after yoga. A yoga health drink will also be provided. Students should only sign up if they are committed to all 4 sessions.

Valentine's Day. Just a reminder that students are welcome to bring valentine cards for their classmates. We appreciate if parents or students want to bring a snack or treat that day, but it must be a healthy snack to help the school with its goal to teach proper nutrition. Teachers will not hand out candy or chocolates. Thank you for helping us to teach and encourage healthy eating!

Please remember to dress kids for the cold weather! They need to get outside for fresh air each day, and they must wear toques and mitts on cold days. Please send them with all the winter clothing they will need! If you have any extra toques or mitts you would be able to donate to the school, they would be greatly appreciated!
