Also planned for Saturday, June 1 is the spring "Hazardous Waste" collection day.

Residents who want to safely recycle hazardous waste can bring these items to the City of Weyburn roundhouse, located near the fire station.

The SARCAN electronic depot will also be open on Saturday, June 1, so that residents can safely recycle their TVs, radios, computers, cameras, telephones and other such electronic devices. The SARCAN will also accept left-over paint.

Each spring, the Clean Up Campaign is organized, to help keep the city clean, and to promote recycling, reducing and reusing. Each year there is a new theme, and this year it was "Centennial Clean Up"
Area residents are also greatly involved in the Clean Up Campaign. Weyburn is split into five residential areas. Each area competes against each other for cleanliness. Some residents, from the most improved area, receive prizes for their hard work.

The Clean Up Campaign will officially start on May 1. Residents are encouraged to do their part to keep their neighbourhood clean and tidy.

There is also a "Nominate Your Neighbour" contest, residents can nominated an outstanding neighbour who goes above and beyond in caring for their yard, or their street. All nominations can be given to Kristine Paul at the city engineering department during May.

There is also a poster contest that students in Weyburn can enter. This year, the theme is "100 Ways to Keep Your City Clean".

The posters help the students to learn the importance of keeping the environment clean and healthy, as well as the importance of recycling.

The winning posters, along with some others, are displayed for the public to see. There are prizes for the winning posters in different age categories.
