Centennial Park update

Well, it's spring again and time to think about making our park ready for another season. It was a very wet fall, so not much could be done to clean the flower beds up for spring planting. Now with the very difficult and cold spring we are going to have to do some moving to get the park ready. Hopefully we will be about to get started soon.

Our park is so lovely when everything starts to bloom, but as everything is done on a volunteer basis, it is difficult to let people know just what is needed. We always have a great group of people to help on the day of planting. This is wonderful, but we could use a group with small tillers to help just prior to the planting date. We don't need much of a commitment, just an hour or so from a group would do the job.

Of course there is some continuous care needed in order to keep everything nice over the summer. If anyone could spare just a few minutes or an hour every now and again then it would not be too much for anyone. One time it was suggested that a few people or an organization take responsibility for a certain flower bed or an area, but this did not come to pass. Right now there are only a few individuals who try to keep this job up, but they sure could use some assistance.

How about someone who likes to walk, and stops to spend fifteen minutes to dig out a few weeds or work around a few flower plants. Maybe some coffee get-togethers could be held at the park, once in a while and also do a little gardening. I'm sure there must be a few people who would like to help, but don't know who to contact to find out what is needed. If so you could call Marilyn at 453-6737 or Edie at 453-6377 and we would gladly answer your questions and also meet you there.
