City of Weyburn, Ag Society to celebrate Canada Day

The City of Weyburn will mark Canada’s birthday on Saturday, July 1, with activities including crafts, face-painting and free swimming, and fireworks at the end of the day.

WEYBURN – The City of Weyburn will mark Canada’s birthday on Saturday, July 1, with activities including crafts, face-painting and free swimming, and fireworks at the end of the day.

The Weyburn Ag Society will celebrate the day with a family movie night in the Exhibition Hall, featuring the Super Mario Brothers movie. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and the show starts at 7:45.

There will be chairs available, but people are encouraged to bring their own, and a cash concession will be available.

The day kicks off at the Leisure Centre with a flag ceremony featuring the Weyburn Legion’s Colour Guard at 10 a.m., with greetings from dignitaries and the Southeast Newcomers.

There will be birthday cake from the Prairie Sky Co-op available at 11 a.m., along with bouncy houses, and appearances by the Paw Patrol from 11 to 4 p.m. Characters will appear every hour in 15-minute increments.

A barbecue will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at a cost of $7 for a hamburger and drink, or $5 for a hot dog and drink.

Free swimming will be held from noon to 4:30 p.m., and a fireworks display will be held at dusk at the exhibition grounds.
