Fillmore (cpd) - The Fillmore History Book Committee met on Feb. 19 to start the process of making a history book of Fillmore and district, mainly from the time after publication of "Footprints in the Sod", but including that information plus much which was missed. Families will be contacted for their family history in the near future.
Fillmore United Church held their annual meeting on Feb. 24 following the church service and a potluck lunch. Elaine Driver will act as chairperson for another two-year term.
Johanna Taylor, Dale Wiggins and Colleen Banting were elected for three-year terms to church council, and Elaine Morris for a one-year term. They join Marlene Hall, Randy Hall, Roxy Johnston, Carol Urban, Debbie Wilson, Donnalee Stolz, Donna Fisher and Sheaunid Wiggins (secretary) on the council.
Myrna Sanheim continues as treasurer, Audrey Piper as envelope secretary, Carol Urban stays as presbytery delegate, and Shirl Carlberg will be the alternate delegate. Work has been finished on the two new furnaces in the church, and the entire basement painted, thanks to Bob and Sharon Clay.
Ann White has resumed her duties as Fillmore United's minister a month's sick leave following a bad fall and concussion. Her husband Ken ably looked after the services in her absence.
Yvette and Blair Stewart holidayed for a week in the Bahamas recently.
Wendy and Ron Hook were welcomed to the community; Ron is the new grader operator, replacing Jason Farrell.
Don Driver's sister, Arlene Bryde of Regina, passed away on Feb. 26.
Former Fillmore resident Bonnie Cross of Yorkton passed away on Feb. 26; she is the sister of Vic McKay.
