The Stoughton Ladies Bonspiel was held on Friday, Feb. 28, to Sunday, March 2.

A total of eight teams came together to compete in the bonspiel, which saw much fun and a lot of strong competition amongst the competitors.

With families and friends able to both spend time together and compete in a sport they enjoy, the participants also enjoyed a supper on Saturday following the game held that afternoon.

Games on Friday and Saturday resulted in "A," "B," and "C" events on Sunday.

Rinks making it to the "A" event included Collene Verbeem, Taure Brigden, and Peters Pipers. The "B" event saw Jean Coderre, Lou Anne Carnegie, and Janelle Wilson. The "C" event would then see competition between Michelle King and Gwen Veer.

In the end Peters Pipers came out on top in the "A" final with Dione Weber, Cheryl Newell, Denise Balon, and Amber McKay.

Kylie McRae, Jenelle Wilson, Tammy King, and Rhonda Sangster earned first in the "B" final, while Gwen Veer, Laurie Shields, Jessica Maas, and Leah Duffy took top honours in the "C" final.

Though organizers used to be able to expect 12 teams each year, they have noticed that most communities have seen a drop in numbers. Stoughton has seen 8 teams for the past couple of years, but Fern Clark, one of the organizers, hopes younger people will begin taking up the sport as it once was.

Overall, however, Clark explained the event was still a success with many people enjoying a weekend of curling.
