Fun on the ice on New Year’s Day at Nickle Lake

The Weyburn Wildlife Federation will be holding their first-ever catch-and-release Fish Derby on New Year’s Day at Nickle Lake, from 1-4 p.m.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Wildlife Federation will be holding their first-ever catch-and-release Fish Derby on New Year’s Day at Nickle Lake, from 1-4 p.m.

Registration goes from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

They will have some hot dogs and hamburgers if you get hungry, and some hot chocolate to keep you warm and ready to fish.

There will be $400 prizes for the biggest pike, perch and walleye.

In addition, for the youth, there will $100 prizes for the biggest pike, perch and walleye.

A 50-50 raffle will be available, with tickets $5 each or three for $10. The WWF will also be selling tickets on a 10-inch Eskimo auger, donated by Fisk Repair.

Tickets are $10 each, and the draw will be made on New Year’s Day at 4 p.m.

It will be a great day to ice fish and maybe even catch the biggest fish and win some prize money.
