The fifth annual Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser will be held on March 8 at McKenna Hall. Event organizers Mike and Cara Weger have another action-packed evening of entertainment planned.

Weyburn's own Tenille Arts will start off the evening's entertainment, followed by Saskatchewan country music performer Codie Prevost.

Codie Prevost graces the stage with boundless energy and passion conveyed with a genuine and non-assuming presence. He has been a much sought-after act since he kick-started his music career in 2005. He was recently recognized with two Canadian Country Music Award nominations.

"We recognize that residents of Weyburn and area have many different 'benefit' dinners to attend, so we try to do something different by bringing in talented performers that will keep people coming back each year," said Cara Weger.

"Along with supper, drinks and excellent entertainment, we will also have some raffle items again this year and we are hoping to have a few extra items to auction off," said Mike Weger. "After we pay the cost of the entertainer and the meal, there isn't much left over for profit. So the raffle items and auction items are pretty important to our fundraising."

"In the end, every extra dollar that we raise brings us closer to finding a cure or control for Cystic Fibrosis," explained Weger, noting that individuals and businesses interested in donating raffle or auction items should contact Cara at 861-6713.

Tickets are being pre-sold and can be purchased at NSWB Law Firm, The Void, or by contacting Cara Weger or emailing caraweger@sasktel.net. Tickets are $50 each and reserved seating is available for tables of eight.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common, fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults. Cystic fibrosis affects breathing and digestion, there is no cure.
