Highway 39 from Estevan to the U.S. border is open once again.

UPDATE:

According to the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure's Highway Hotline, Highway 39 from Estevan to the Canada-U.S. border reopened during the noon hour. The highway reports that winter conditions still exist.

The highway was shut down late Thursday morning and early in the afternoon because of a snowstorm in the area.

The ministry reported at the time of the closure that there was swirling snow, loose snow, icy or slippery sections and drifting snow, along with zero visibility.

Meanwhile, winter conditions continue to exist on other highways in the southeast, with some reporting poor visibility. Others now report that seasonal conditions exist.

A snow squall warning that was in effect for Estevan, Carlyle and Moosomin areas has now been lifted. It was also issued late Thursday morning and gradually lifted as the storm passed.
