The Weyburn Humane Society is seeking votes in the Shelter Challenge of 2012, organized by the Animal Rescue Site.

With the help of local residents, the Weyburn Humane Society could win one of 68 prizes from the Animal Rescue Site. The grand prize is a $5,000 grant, and there are also $2,000 grants for the two winning Heartwarming Stories, and two $1,500 grants for the runners up.

There are also 53 regional prizes of $1,000, as this contest is offered to shelters in the United States, Canadian and on an international level.

Voting continues until Sunday, Dec. 16. Residents can vote for the Weyburn Humane Society by going online at www.theanimalrescuesite.com and clicking on the shelter challenge.

The shelter challenge link is located on the right side of the home page.
In case residents are unable to find the link, they can go directly to: http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/shelterchallenge.faces.

Voting for the Shelter Challenge started on Oct. 8. Each weekly voting period beings on a Monday and ends at midnight the following Sunday.

The amount of votes accepted on a computer is limited to one per day. Participants are eligible for weekly prizes of $1,000, so it is important for residents to vote daily throughout the contest.

The Petfinder.com network is full of many types of rescue organizations, include shelters, humane societies and foster networks. The grants awarded from the Shelter Challenge are used for the care of rescued pets.

As of Friday last week, the Weyburn Humane Society was ranked 1230 on the Shelter Challenge. Full results for the challenge are updated daily on the Shelter Challenge website.
