WEYBURN - The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign will be kicking off on Thursday, Dec. 2 in Weyburn.

The Kettle Campaign is a fundraising effort that occurs each year during the Christmas season. It is the largest fundraiser of the year for the organization, and is an opportunity for the public to donate whatever funds they can to support the work of the Salvation Army.

Funds raised support local children and families in need through their various programs, including the Food bank, Christmas hampers, summer camp, the back-to-school program, and more. All donations made locally remain in Weyburn.

The Salvation Army are looking for volunteer “bell-ringers” to be a friendly face at the kettles that will be located in Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire and Wholesale Club from December 2 to 24. They are booking two-hour time slots at each location. All volunteers will need proof of full vaccination.

The kettle two-hour time slots will be on Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Anyone who would like to be a part of the Christmas kettles this year can contact Shannon or Tania at 306-842-2280.

The Salvation Army is also starting to take registrations for their Christmas Hamper and Adopt-A-Family programs. The Salvation Army have Christmas Hamper sponsor guidelines, and a registration form that interested businesses or organizations can fill in, and submit to the Salvation Army.

Once the Salvation Army has matched a family with the interested sponsor, they will be in touch with a list from the family of the size, ages of the children as well as a wish list for Christmas toys.

Hamper and toy drop off will be on Monday, December 20 at the Salvation Army Family Services office. They will then distribute to the family that afternoon.

The Salvation Army is also offering Christmas assistance for those without children. The applicants will receive a Christmas hamper with everything they need to have a Christmas meal.

For more information on the Christmas hamper and Adopt-A-Family programs, interested businesses and organizations can contact Shannon Fodchuck, community minister worker at the Salvation Army, at 306-842-2280.
