The Farm Animal Council of Saskatchewan (FACS) and Saskatchewan Horse Federation (SHF) have extended the timeframe to nominate individuals, organizations and companies for excellence in equine welfare.
FACS and SHF are now accepting nominations for the 'Awards of Distinction for Equine Welfare' until February 29, 2012. The partners plan to recognize recipients as guests of honour on March 10 at the SHF conference in Regina.
"The Saskatchewan Horse Federation identifies two purposes for the partnership with the Farm Animal Council of Saskatchewan: showing appreciation to the recipients, and serving as a reminder regarding the importance of providing exceptional care to animals," said Mae Smith, SHF Executive Director.
"The Farm Animal Council of Saskatchewan is pleased to recognize owners, riders, drivers and others within the provincial equine industry for their ongoing commitment to responsible animal care through the 'Awards of Distinction for Equine Welfare," said Adele Buettner, Executive Director of FACS.
FACS and SHF seek nominations for 'Awards of Distinction for Equine Welfare' in four categories:
1) Equine Welfare Innovation Award of Distinction
2) Equine Welfare Leadership Award of Distinction
3) Equine Welfare Communication Award of Distinction
4) Equine Welfare Young Steward of the Future Award of Distinction
