Police advise security measures against break-ins

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of December 5 to 11: During the reporting period, police received 116 calls for service. Three residential break and enters were reported.

During the reporting period, police received 116 calls for service. Three residential break and enters were reported. Residents are reminded NOT to make their home an attractive target for a break and enter. The following are suggestions to help keep your home safe.

*Lock all of your doors including garage doors.

*Leave inside and outside lights on and use security lights if you have them.

*Make it appear that someone is home by, for example, having a radio playing.

*If you are away for an extended period of time, make sure you have a key-holder check your home on a regular basis.

*Make sure your home mailbox is cleaned out and your driveway and walks are kept clear.

*Home security alarms are also an option.

*Neighbors, if you see something that doesn't look right, such as suspicious vehicles or unfamiliar people in the area, please call the police.

*DO NOT advertise on social media that you will be away.

*On December 11, police were called to assist a taxi driver when the occupants in his cab started fighting. The matter is under investigation.

*Police were called to two noisy parties in the city. In both cases the parties were shut down.

*Police were called to a local bar to investigate a possible assault. The matter is under investigation.

*Residents are again reminded that high profile stop checks are occurring in the city. If you drink please do not drive.

*On December 10, police were called to a disturbance at a local bar. The matter is under investigation.

*Police were called to a motor vehicle accident in the city. No injuries were reported however one driver was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

*On December 9, police were called to investigate three residential break and enters in the city. In two cases jewelry, alcohol, and a large screen television were stolen. In the other case it appears nothing was taken from the residence. The matters are under investigation. Anyone with information regarding these break and enters is encouraged to call Police or Crime Stoppers.

*On December 8, police arrested and charged a female driver with driving a motor vehicle while over .08. She will be appearing in court in January.

*On December 7, police were called to a vehicle/pedestrian accident on Simms Avenue. Investigation showed that two pedestrians were working on a parked vehicle when a semi truck that was parked in front of their vehicle backed into them. Both were transported to hospital by ambulance. The semi driver was charged with driving without due care and attention.

* Police were called to a local bar after a report of a disturbance. The male involved was gone on police arrival.

*On December 6, a Weyburn youth was arrested for breaching his probation and he was held in custody.

*Police attended a complaint of theft of tools from a garage in the city. The matter is under investigation.

*On December 5, a break and enter was reported to a local business. Entry was gained through a door. Cash was taken.

*A Weyburn male was arrested and charged for possessing a small amount of marijuana. He will make his first court appearance this month.
