Police attend numerous residential disturbances

During the reporting period, police dealt with 101 calls for service.

*A two day traffic blitz was conducted concentrating on motorists not using their seatbelts or communicating on their cell phones while driving. Twelve tickets were issued for not wearing seatbelts and 11 tickets were issued for people using their cell phones while driving.

*The weather during the week turned to winter conditions. The recent snow and cold temperatures turned road surfaces extremely icy. Several motor vehicle accidents were reported and investigated. Motorists are encouraged to slow down and equip their vehicles with proper tires for winter driving.

*On November 18, an observant resident reported an intoxicated man lying in the snow on Second Street.

*Police attended a residence on Wiebe Crescent when an intoxicated young man entered the home and then passed out inside.

*On November 17, police attended the King George Hotel. Customers were reported to be consuming alcohol on the parking lot.

*Weyburn Co-op Foods reported a shop lifter. The matter is still under investigation.

*A domestic disturbance between family members was attended to on Clark Avenue. Police kept the peace while some members packed belongings to relocate.

*On November 16, police attended a noise complaint inside an apartment building located on the 700 block of Fifth Street. The matter was resolved without charges.

*November 15, an erratic driver was reported on Highfield Crescent. Extra patrols will be made in the area.

*On November 14, a fox thought be rabid was reported being seen by the City landfill. The animal disappeared and hasn't been seen again. Residents are advised to use caution when these animals are seen in the city. Several reports have been received this fall of coyotes and foxes being seen in the city.

*A resident received a phone call stating her credit card had been compromised in Guatemala. The call was from a computer play dial. The call was terminated before personal information was given.

*On November 13, a theft of four pairs of bowling shoes from the bowling alley was reported. They are multi-coloured and all about size 10.

*A noisy party disturbance was attended to in the Weyburn Trailer Court. Several guests refused to leave a residence after the owner asked them to leave. The matter was resolved without charges.

*A GPS unit was stolen out of a truck parked on Elm Crescent. The matter is still being investigated.
