Police report a not-so-jolly season for some

The Christmas spirit came hard for a couple of neighbours on Dec.

The Christmas spirit came hard for a couple of neighbours on Dec. 22 when Estevan Police Service members were dispatched to the southeast area of the city to help quell a dispute between neighbours that evolved around a dog that had been allowed to run off its leash and into a neighbour's property. In the spirit of the season, the dispute was resolved peacefully, and no charges or police action were required.

On Dec. 22, EPS members were engaged in a pursuit that began in Estevan and then led to the corporate city limits. The event lasted about a half-hour and came to a safe conclusion when two male suspects in their early 20s were arrested. The vehicle's operator was subsequently charged with impaired driving and driving while his blood-alcohol level was over .08. He was also charged with dangerous driving and for failing to stop for an emergency vehicle.

A fight that broke out among a group of people at a local lounge on Dec. 22 required police attention. The combatants had departed prior to police arrival.

On that same night, a 39-year-old Ontario man was charged with driving while impaired and held in cells to be released when sober.

On Dec. 23, police responded to an intrusion alarm in the early part of the evening at a residence in the 800 block of Edward Street. When police arrived, they discovered that thieves had broken the locked entrance to the home and had entered and stolen an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot. The matter remains under investigation.

A 21-year-old Estevan man was arrested for public intoxication and charged with breaching the conditions of a previous undertaking.

A 25-year-old Oxbow man was charged with failing to provide a breath sample for analysis during a roadside screening check following a traffic stop. That occurred on the night of Dec. 23 and early morning hours of Dec. 24.

On the night of Dec. 24, a 28-year-old Estevan woman was arrested on outstanding warrants from the Weyburn Police Service.

On Christmas evening, a 24-year-old Estevan man was issued a 24-hour licence suspension as a result of alcohol consumption and he was also charged for not having a valid driver's licence. Police also noted there was an outstanding warrant levied against him.
