Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of January 20 to 28:
During the reporting period, police received 65 calls for service.
*On January 28, police were called to a local business and were able to determine that the victim, a 17-year-old female youth, had been assaulted by another 17-year-old female youth. The victim was taken to the local hospital on her own and she declined to provide the information necessary to make an arrest or lay a charge. No further action was taken.
*On January 27, police conducted a traffic stop in regards to driving actions being observed. As a result, a 40-year-old local male was charged with driving while over .08 and impaired driving. He will be making a court appearance.
*On January 26, police responded to a 9-1-1 call to a local bar. Upon arrival, the police located a female patron who alleged that she had been assaulted and required medical attention. The 28-year-old female was transported to the local hospital by the police where she received medical attention. Subsequent investigation revealed that the patron was either accidentally bumped, or simply fell. No charges are being pursued and the matter was concluded.
*Police responded to a local business to deal with a group of allegedly assaultive males. Police were able to determine that, although some words were exchanged, no physical altercation occurred. No further action was taken or required.
*Police were called to a domestic situation at a residence. The couple had been in the process of splitting up when a disagreement erupted over property rights. Police were able to successfully mediate this matter without further formal involvement.
*Police were called to a local drinking establishment regarding two males who were fighting. A subsequent investigation revealed that, although there was a verbal altercation, no physical altercation happened. Both parties were advised of the provisions of the fighting bylaw and went their separate ways.
*On January 24, police attended to the parking lot of the Weyburn General Hospital after receiving a call of a hit and run where a delivery truck had hit a parked car and then drove away. Police were able to locate the delivery vehicle and driver and determined that the individual was not aware they had hit a vehicle. No charges were laid.
*Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle that had been parked on a perimeter road for some time. A patrol was made and the vehicle was located. No criminality was involved but the occupant did have an extensive criminal record.
*On January 23, police received a complaint regarding a fraud after a victim had made contact through the internet with a male regarding the availability of Winnipeg Jets tickets. The victim had a feeling that the offer was not what originally was stated and decided to contact the Winnipeg Jets head office. It was determined it was a scam, but the victim had not supplied any money to the individual. Police continue to investigate.
*On January 22, police attended to a southeast residence after receiving numerous 9-1-1 calls from a female occupant indicating an assault was taking place. Police attended and found the occupants of the house arguing. While separating the individuals, the 22-year-old female assaulted a Weyburn Police Service member. The officer did not suffer any injuries. The female was arrested for assault on a police officer. The accused was transported to cells and released when sober. She will appear in court in February.
*On January 20, police received a report of a sexual assault. According to the report, during the evening hours, a 26-year-old female was assaulted by a 30-year-old male. The male was known to the victim and the investigation is ongoing.
