RCMP report: May 24 to 30

False calls

There were a total of five 911 calls. Four were misdials, while the fifth was a child playing with the phone.

Four false alarms were attended by RCMP. Key holders are reminded to notify alarm companies with a number they can be reached on in cases such as these.

Animal calls

Six animal calls were reported. Two separate calls concerning horses running on Highway 9 were received by RCMP. Members attended, but a farmer had already taken care of the matter. Three calls complaining of a bear at White Bear Resort were received. SERM was contacted and live traps were set out, though RCMP advise the public to ensure food and garbage is not left out. Calls were also received regarding two large dogs running around Carlyle. According to a town bylaw, animals must be on a leash and are not allowed to run free.

Grass fires

Two grass fires were attended. One was in near Kenosee and the other near Arcola, local Fire Departments also attended.

Returned ID

A piece of identification was found and turned into RCMP. Members located the individual and returned it to the person.

Assaults

Three assaults were reported. The first involved a reported fight amongst individuals. Members attended, but the subjects were gone upon arrival. Patrols were made, but no one was located and there were no further calls regarding this matter. The second call regarded an assault with a weapon, which is still under investigation. The final call involved two intoxicated persons. One picked up a table and threw it at the other person. This matter remains under investigation.

Assisting Regina City Police

Members assisted Regina City Police in locating and arresting two persons with outstanding warrants. The persons were released to appear in court in Regina.

Concerns for safety

Four calls in total were received concerning the safety of protestors on the "Walk for Justice" from Pheasant Rump First Nations to Carlyle. RCMP determined there were no violations made with the walk and reminded those organizing the event to have pilot cars and take care while walking on the highway.

Land dispute

There was a complaint of land dispute, which is now under investigation.

Break and enter

A break and entering to a seasonal cabin in the area was reported and is under investigation.

Disturbances

A complaint of an intoxicated person at a residence was received. Members attended and found the intoxicated male was violating parole. The subject was arrested and lodged in cells as his parole was revoked. He was taken back to Regina Correctional.

Calls of disturbing the peace were addressed. One involved seven girls fighting on the street. All were said to be intoxicated. Members attended, but all persons were gone on arrival. There were no further complaints regarding this matter. Patrols located an intoxicated male urinating in a back alley of downtown Carlyle. He was arrested and driven home to a responsible person.

Five reports of mischief were reported. One involved slashed tires and is currently under investigation. Another involved a broken window at a residence. The owner of the home witnessed the individual break the window and reported the incident to police for information purposes. Members did speak with the subject of complaint and gave the individual a warning. The third incident regarded slashed tires in Redvers outside of a business. Members are investigating this matter. A complaint of mischief regarding an intoxicated female was reported. Individuals wanted the subject removed from their house. Members attended, but the intoxicated female had already left. The final incident involved an intoxicated female at a residence. Members attended, locating the woman who was belligerent with police. She was arrested and transported to cells where she was held until sober and released the next morning with no charges.

Traffic infractions

A driving complaint was received regarding an individual operating a vehicle without due care and attention. Members are investigating the matter reported, which involved a vehicle crossing the highway at an unsafe time causing a vehicle travelling along the highway to swerve and hit the ditch.

Two reports of hit and runs were reported. One call originated in Carlyle and the other came from Arcola. RCMP remind motorists to report accidents where the vehicle is no longer drivable or if it involves any persons or vehicles from out of province. Minor collisions can be reported directly to SGI.

Eight speeding violations were addressed. One was a report of a speeder which patrols were unable to find. A second involved a complaint of vehicles racing in the town of Manor, but they were gone upon RCMP arrival. A complaint of speeding in construction zones was received by RCMP. The public is reminded to slow to 60 km/hour when passing highway workers and traveling through construction zones. Five tickets speeding tickets were issued during this time: a 25-year-old male was fined $150, a 55-year-old female was ticketed $138, a 17-year-old male was fined $139, a 35-year-old male was ticketed $194, and a 51-year-old male was issued a ticket for $132.

A ticket of $175 for failing to wear a seatbelt was issued to a 32-year-old male.

A call of a possibly intoxicated driver in the Redvers area was reported. Members attended and located the vehicle confirming no alcohol had been involved, so the driver was issued a verbal warning to pay closer attention to their driving habits.

An erratic driver was reported for crossing the centre line. The driver was located and verbally warned about driving responsibly.

RCMP performed a vehicle stop where they found a driver without a valid driver's licence. The 27-year-old male was issued a $150 fine.

Motor vehicle collisions, no serious injuries

RCMP responded to three motor vehicle collisions. One involved a driver who hadn't been paying attention and drove into a pole that was located on the side of the road. The vehicle was no longer drivable and was later towed from the scene. The uninjured driver 21-year-old male driver was issued a summary offence ticket of $280 for driving with undue care and attention. A motor vehicle collision occurred when a vehicle lost control on a gravel road. Both occupants were transported to hospital with minor injuries. The third involved a motorist driving a motorhome lost control when travelling across washboard on a gravel road ending up in a slough. No one was injured and the vehicle was later towed.

Arcola bylaw violation

A noise bylaw violation in Arcola was reported. Members attended and found the large party had been shut down; the occupants of the home had gone to sleep.

Thefts

A theft of a slip tank was reported from the Coop supply yard on Highway 13 in Redvers. The matter is under investigation.

Theft from a greenhouse in Carlyle was reported. Flowers were missing as was a small amount of cash. This matter remains under investigation.

Theft of a truck was reported. An employee took a truck without consent. Patrols were made and the vehicle was located. The complainant declined to lay charges.

Missing person located safe

An elderly gentleman was reported as possibly missing after having gone to town and not returned. Several patrols were made throughout the evening. The man was located the next morning over 100 km from his home stuck in a ditch. The man was uninjured and given a ride home.
