Weyburn resident Ron Metheral holds what remains of a gun that was lost on his farm over a century ago. As he explained it, the land where his son Tyler now farms was homesteaded in 1900 by William Johnson, who lost this gun in the area of the garden; he sold the land to J.A. McBride in 1911, who rented it until 1926 to Carman and Mary Metheral, when they bought it. His mother, Mary, found this gun in 1941 when she was digging in her garden; hitting something solid, she dug deeper and brought up this solidified gun. Ron farmed the land from 1955 until 2009 when his son bought it.
