SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN - For the second time this week, Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch in southern Saskatchewan.

An advisory issued Saturday afternoon said conditions were favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms in parts of southern Saskatchewan Saturday afternoon and evening. The advisory included Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Assiniboia, Oxbow, Carnduff, Kipling, Moosomin and other areas.

The primary threats from these thunderstorms, according to Environment Canada, were hail the size of golf balls and wind gusts in excess of 100 kilometres per hour.

"Thunderstorms are expected to develop later this afternoon in parts of southern Saskatchewan. Some of these thunderstorms may become severe."

The advisory was lifted early Sunday.

Additional thunderstorms are in the forecast over the next few days for many areas in southern Saskatchewan.
