The Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop Corporation would like to announce that our first fundraiser in 40 years was a fabulous success!

Performances by Roger Boucher of Watching Eye Magic and Mark LeBere as Elvis, plus "the bodyguards" wowed those in attendance and made them feel like they truly had 'escaped' to Vegas.

Our Vegas Escape fundraiser held on May 7 at McKenna Hall raised $14,000 towards our goal of raising $500,000 for the construction of a new Day Program Building to support individuals with intellectual disabilities in Weyburn and area.

Some of the feedback received included, "Food, decorating, entertainment all were AWESOME"; "This is the best fundraiser I have ever worked at!"; "Thanks for putting on such a great event."; "Please do this again next year."

"On behalf of the participants and families we serve now and in the future, our staff and Board of Directors, we extend a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to the businesses and individuals not only in Weyburn, but in southern Saskatchewan who supported our very first fundraiser. The support was absolutely overwhelming and proves that this is a fabulous community who recognizes the importance of the services and programs that we provide for individuals with intellectual disabilities," said Andria Brady, Executive Director.

"The recent announcement of the $1 million commitment by the Ministry of Social Services towards this project guarantees that it will become a reality for us. We are moving ahead with the purchase of property and building design plans with the goal of construction beginning later this Fall or Spring 2012."

Our next major fundraiser will be a Curling Extravaganza held on November 12 - 13, and will include a Dinner Theatre and Celebrities from the curling world.

Visit our food booth on June 18 at the Car Club Show & Shine in downtown Weyburn as well.
