Town Council convened at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, for a rather quiet meeting.

The schools in town made the councillors aware of Pink Day, which is fast approaching and will be held on May 1st. Pink Day is an anti-bullying day, which the schools are attempting to have everyone in the community participate in. They let the town know that they have pink shirts for sale and gave the town a window sticker, which can be put up to show their support.

The Ministry of Government Relations sent a letter regarding the lagoon land, which is being subdivided. This was simply a routine letter from community planning confirming there were no objections from the town, which there were none.

The Cornerstone Family and Youth presented their annual report, which stated their operating costs and outlined all of the events which were held during 2012.

The Minister of Government Relations sent information regarding the decrease of the education mill rates.

Finally, Alderman Romaniuk presented an idea for the town to obtain reports from the RCMP and Fire Department regarding the school bus collision. These reports will hopefully be coupled with suggestions for ways to possibly prevent similar occurrences in the future. This was agreed upon and the town will go ahead with requesting help in ensuring safety at railway crossings in town.
