The theme for National Volunteer Week across Canada is ‘The Value of One, the Power of Many’, and it is running from April 18-25. The theme fits well as a nod to Communithon’s past, a reflection of Communithon’s present, and a wink to Communithon’s future. What would the Weyburn Communithon be without volunteers? For 40 years, this event has provided entertainment and much needed support to local organizations, and simply put, the event would not be possible without the community support of volunteers.
“The entire Communithon is executed solely by volunteers, be it the planning committees, the announcers, the day-of event support, and the entertainers. Each and every person involved with the Communithon is there because they believe in this community” says Lindsay Manko-Bauche, Communication Volunteer Committee Chair. “Even with 2020 being an different pace for Weyburn Communithon, there were still over 85 individuals that donated their time and energy to pulling the event off, not to mentions the countless hours of planning and preparation that the Communithon Committee members contributed to ensuring that the event continues to be a staple of support for Weyburn. This is amazing, and proves that the value of one shows the power of many, much like National Volunteer Week’s theme. This is a small way we can say thank you to each and every person who has helped with Communithon, this year or any year.”
‘The Value of One, the Power of Many’ beautifully reflects the individual and collective efforts, we have seen during the pandemic, and it sets the tone for re-imagining the next 20 years as the value of one act and the power of many enables us to thrive together.

When the opportunity came to join the committee I jumped on it knowing that I could be a part of the behind the scenes to make the event be a success! It's a great fundraiser and it helps a lot of not-for profits that are extremely important within our community.” says Kristen Iversen, Communithon Secretary
The Weyburn Communithon is continuously accepting volunteers and diligently planning for 2021’s event. “There really is something for everyone. We’d love to have even more individuals to put their talents to work” says Manko-Bauche.
