Weyburn Credit Union's VP of Retail Jeff Hayward and VP of Development Mel Hoffman present City Councillor Dick Michel with a cheque for $10,000 to assist with safety improvements at the Weyburn Airport. The Airport Board wishes to bring the facility up to current standards with the installation of a Global Positioning System. This will be of great benefit to corporate and air ambulance traffic. The Weyburn Airport will become more useable regardless of weather conditions, ensuring a safer and more stabilized approach.

Weyburn has seen a marked increase in air traffic in the past years with a steady stream of flights to service a booming oil, gas, and farming economy. Both STARS and Lifeguard Air Ambulance services endorse the project and are very pleased to see Weyburn make these safety improvements.

"The total cost of the project is $40,000. The Airport Board has raised $28,000 thanks to great corporate citizens like Weyburn Credit Union," said Michel.

Those interested in helping may make their tax deductible donations to the City of Weyburn.

The $10,000 donation was funded from Weyburn Credit Union's Community Fund which was developed to assist with large long term projects to improve the social and economic well-being of the communities served by the Credit Union.
