The Town of Yellow Grass has purchased a parcel of land from Mickey Whitrow to allow the town to expand.

The Town has sold all of their residential lots in the last few years and the demand is still there, said Mayor Bill Wilke.

"I think there will be as many as 14 new lots from this property. We keep getting calls from people who are interested," he said, adding they are now in the process of getting the land surveyed.

The Town has begun the task of subdividing the property into approximately 75-foot lots. They are hopeful this can be done within six months so they can concentrate on having the services installed, such as water and sewer, power and gas.

"The properties should ready to go by the spring," said Mayor Wilke, adding once the town-owned lots had run out, they weren't prepared for the continuing demand, "but now we'll be ready to go."

The Town is also in the process of having a water treatment plant installed. They were the recipients of the Building Canada Fund Government grant for their plant. At this point they are waiting for the tender closing date, which was Nov. 16.

Their lagoon was upgraded a few years ago so they can handle the increase in water usage that comes with expansion. The Town has seen seven new homes built in the last couple of years and more are in the planning stages.
