Submitted by David L Munro The Friends of the St. Victor Petroglyphs hosted a wonderful afternoon for the opening of the Red River Cart Display at the St. Victor Petroglyphs Interpretive Centre in St. Victor on August 26.

Tickets are now available for the Communithon Concert Jam, which will be hosted by the Weyburn and District United Way at the Cugnet Centre on Saturday, October 21, starting at 1 p.m.

A unique exhibit of sculpture and paintings opened at the Shurniak Art Gallery in Assiniboia on August 29 as part of an evening dedicated to gallery volunteers.

The late ceramic artist Linda Olafson of Mossbank was a dedicated supporter of the Mossbank and District Museum. Today, the museum is still benefitting from her support through a donation of her ceramic works.

A total of 4,132 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan for the week ending August 25, reported Saskatchewan Agriculture. This figure is down slightly from the 4,183 head sold the previous week, and down from 4,783 head the same week a year ago.

Relatively warm and dry weather have allowed producers to continue with harvest operations, reported Saskatchewan Agriculture for the week ending August 28.

The works of artist Beth Stobbs are on display for the months of September and October at the Kay Cristo Room at the Assiniboia and District Public Library. The exhibit is sponsored by the Assiniboia and District Arts Council.

Assiniboia Town Council declared the month of September “Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.” Mayor Bob Himbeault stated that this was the first time that Council made such a declaration after discussing a recent request at its August meeting.

The Broken Arrow Youth Ranch in Wood Mountain were promoting the ranch’s work at an information booth at the Limerick Farmer’s Market on August 19.
