It has been a busy few weeks of hockey for our team. The Carlyle Cougars travelled to Carievale on Jan. 13. The Cougars took control early in the game and continued to play strong the entire game.

This year will mark what would have been the 100th birthday of Woodrow Stanley Lloyd. Mr. Lloyd was born July 16, 1913 at Webb, Saskatchewan and went on to be the eighth premier of Saskatchewan.

The comedy show and supper held in Alida on Jan. 26 by the Alida and District Lions Club was a great success. In all 160 tickets were sold for the event, which was catered by the Alida History Book Committee.

Between Jan. 17 and Jan. 21 the 2013 Saskatchewan STARSkate Championships were held in Humboldt, Sk. Four local skaters (Grace Smyth, Kyla Fischer, Halle Doty, and Cassidy Weber) attended with two able to reach gold.

GARRECK: Louise Julia Garreck, beloved wife of the late John Garreck, formerly of Swan River, Manitoba and Wawota, Saskatchewan, passed away at Maryfield, Saskatchewan on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the age of 88 years.

It's that time of year again, the 12th Annual Moose Mountain Ag Day will be held on Feb. 5 at Prairie Place Hall in Arcola and will be host to an Ag Trade Show as well as five knowledgeable speakers on a variety of topics.

Between Jan. 18 and Jan. 24 the RCMP had 41 files reported. On Jan. 18 there was a collision on Highway 13 near Manor. There were minor damages and no injuries to those involved. No charges have been laid.
