As is becoming a tradition, the columns over Christmas and New Year's weeks look back at some of the funniest quips from the past 12 months. Here's Part I, the best from January through June. R.J. Currie of sportsdeke.

In one of history's dark hours, on a cold Christmas Eve during the Korean War, a young woman struggles along a village street, about deliver a child. "Help me! Please. My baby." No one pays any attention. A middle-aged couple walks by.

Saturday, Dec. 15, was an absolutely beautiful day. With snow on the ground and a temperature hovering near zero many youth were out for a fun Christmas Wonderland Day organized by the community.

It was recently suggested by a reader that I should be less suspicious and nicer. Well, I generally try to be a nice person, notwithstanding what you might hear from my co-workers or in-laws.

Dec. 4 marked 10 years on the air for 97.7 FM The Moose. The Station was founded back in 2002 by Lana Littlechief and her husband after she switched careers as administrative assistant in the oil and gas sector.

As Christmas draws near my thoughts wander to Christmas's past and those people who made the day so very special. The years pass quickly and many of those people are gone now, though they are still with us in our memories and hearts.

Although I rarely comment on current events I cannot ignore the grief and confusion associated with Connecticut's Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy. In reality, it is everyone's tragedy.

On Dec. 12 Jenn Sedor with the Bear Claw Community Development Incorporated presented Ron Paul with a donation of $2,600 to be put towards the refurbishing of the station platform.

It has been a busy two weeks of hockey for our team. The Carlyle Cougars travelled to Redvers on Friday, December 7. The Cougars came out strong and dominated the game from the beginning.

On Dec. 8 Prairie Place in Arcola was host to three regulars of Applause Dinner Theatre based out of Regina. A dinner theatre was hosted by the Moose Mountain Health Care Recruitment Committee as a fundraising event. Cocktails began at 6 p.m.
