I sit here today thinking about the many accomplishments I have made in my short almost 21 years on earth. For such a young person, I have succeeded at many things, I should be happy.

Born on July 7, 1912, Alice Van Heukelom has now turned 100. Born south of Carlyle on the family farm, in a sod house, she grew up with four brothers. They all went to the country school and in the summer would attend barefoot.

When people around the world think of Canada, they often think of free health care. Though it has been a struggle and continues to cause problems, in a sense, it is something that Canadians are proud to have.

On one of the walls in my brother's kitchen are little black lines with dates beside them all the way up the wall. They signify the height of my niece and nephews as they grow up with the corresponding date on it.

I, along with the City, am feeling a wee bit lonely this morning. After enjoying the presence of several thousand visitors, their departure leaves an empty spot.

The Natural Health and Healing Expo at Memorial hall last weekend saw a huge turn out. The second annual event to be held in the town went on for the majority of Saturday and Sunday, with several things to see.

The Carlyle Detachment of the RCMP responded to a total of 99 calls over the week of June 29 - July 5. Calls on the 29th began with members receiving a request from the area to locate a missing person.

Saskatchewan is always referred to as the land of the living skies. People living in the province have worn the slogan on vehicle license plates since 1998. It is now seen on the back of every single registered Saskatchewan vehicle.
