There was a decrease in the number of calls received by the Carlyle detachment last week, with a total of 48, as compared to 58 the previous week. Five of the calls related to complaints of physical assault.

You could see the smoke as soon as you came over the hill, just outside of White Bear. It was billowing from somewhere in Carlyle, black and menacing. It did not look good, and it would be easy to find the source.

Our dog, Roxy, is getting outfoxed. This is not unusual, in and of itself. Roxy gets outsmarted a lot. Sometimes it's humans, sometimes cats, occasionally inanimate objects. Pretty much anything is smarter than Roxy.

The Arcola School Senior Drama students performed in the play The Fourth Wall Wednesday, May 11 at the Mac Murray Theatre in Arcola. The Fourth Wall was a comedy written by Rebekah M. Ball, about a play within a play.
