Forty-seven years have passed since the Prairie Lore and Living Society’s dream came to fruition in the form of Saskairie. They wanted to provide a place where both city and country kids could come and experience nature at its best.

On July 5,6, and 7 the White Bear First Nations welcomed dancers from all over Canada and the US. Pow wows are celebrations that showcase the peoples’ music, dances, regalia, food and crafts.

Students at Carlyle Elementary School were excited to pose for photos in front of new playground equipment donated from community members and groups. Moose Mountain Soccer donated soccer nets for both playgrounds.

Graduation and life lessons

It was while cutting heavy brown paper to wrap around a parcel destined to another province that I realized the truth that I wanted to share in this week’s offering. That truth comes from a most simple action.

I am on some well earned vacation. I can advise that during my time away tickets were issued, warnings were provided and individuals were arrested. • We often pull over individuals that are obviously not wearing their seatbelts.

The Bayliss family of Carnduff knows a thing or two about how it feels when a loved one goes missing. A year ago, on June 18, Rebecca Bayliss’ mother, Ruby Barnes, went missing from the Carlyle area.
