Arcola School welcomes Mike Callfas, the new Senior Math and Science teacher to their staff. Originally from Glenavon, he and his wife – who is from Kisbey – were excited to move from Pangman closer home.

The annual Kenosee Lake Terry Fox run will take place this Sunday, Sept. 17. Registration will take place at 9 a.m. in Club 19, while the run will begin at 10 a.m.

School is back in session with Sept. 5 being the first day for youth and with school starting up a reminder to slow down in school zones and abide by the proper rules of the road – which should always be done – becomes quintessential in school zones.

Sir John A. Macdonald is considered the founding father of Canada: he united Upper and Lower Canada along with New Brunswick and Nova Scotia to consolidate into a single country and after doing that became the country’s first Prime Minister.

Manor School celebrated heading back to school with a BBQ on Wednesday, Aug. 30. Students were welcomed to meet teachers, check out classrooms, bring school supplies, and enjoy a BBQ – sponsored by local businesses and the School Community Council.

The Carlyle Play-School Cooperative is moving to a new location and parents of three- and four-year-old prospective students are invited to an open house and registration night, Thursday, Sept. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m.

“I was too young and now I’m too old,” sounds like the excuse to get us out of serving the Lord. The average age of people living in our military retirement community is 85. Recently, a neighbor turned 100, and a big birthday party was thrown.

“Please God, send us rain!” If you live in B.C. you could well have prayed this prayer over the past several months. In my case, it’s more like a few dozen times a day or, on days like today, a few dozen times an hour.

Prairie Sky Kitchens celebrated with the community of Carlyle and surrounding area on Wednesday, Aug. 30, with a ribbon cutting, cake, coffee, and numerous door prizes.
