The other day I was Skyping with some friends from Calgary. I have always kind of laughed at Daylight Savings Time, I mean there's still the same amount of time in a day no matter what people do. The sun rises, it's up for so long and it sets.

Barbara Fornwald, late of Carlyle, Saskatchewan, passed away at Moose Mountain Lodge, Carlyle, on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the age of 85 years. Barbara is survived by her children, Gail & Terry; granddaughter, Dale Marie; sister, Mary Gates.

District golf playoffs for the South East District Athletic Association were held on Monday, Sept. 15, at Golf Kenosee. A group of 55 youth, consisting mostly of male participants and six female golfers took to the course to showcase their skills.

About four years ago, Ramona Rushton special ordered a sand castle cake for her twins' birthday. The children saw the cake and had hoped it was completely edible as the small beach balls seemed like they should be a candy.

The Carlyle RCMP detachment received 53 calls to service from Sept. 5-11. 911 Three 911 calls were received. Two were static lines and one was a hang-up originating from a business in Carlyle.

Carlyle Mayor Wayne Orsted became mayor by acclamation on. Sept. 3 after previous mayor, Don Shirley stepped down from the position. Orsted says,"The seat became vacant and I was asked if I would consider it.

It was a cool morning, but only one of the triathlon members yelped as they entered the even colder water on Sunday, Sept. 14, at Kenosee Lake. The event had to be postponed from Sunday, Aug.

Carlyle's Dickens Festival will be held on Dec. 5 and 6, but it's not too late to get involved, according to Dickens Committee chair, Shelley Slykhuis. "We're having a public planning meeting on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Hall.
