For the week of Friday, Jan. 17, to Thursday, Jan. 23, the Carlyle detachment of the RCMP received 54 calls to service. 911 calls A 911 call in Redvers came through with a static line. The cause was indeterminate.

Since I came to Saskatchewan, watching the weather channel on TV in the early morning has become a habit before beginning a new day. Nowadays the weather is so changeable and unpredictable that it is hard to believe the long range weather forecast.

Reading through any national Canadian news source lately and scrolling through social media, the topic of discussion tends to be on Neil Young and his comments regarding the Alberta oilsands.

This week I packed my suitcase, stocked a small cooler with food, gathered up my laptop along with a pile of printed notes and then I left. After months of waffling I'd finally made the decision to head out of town.

On January 16th, the Cougars travelled to Oxbow for a regular league game. Since this was a late game our Cougars got off to a slow start with the Oxbow Huskies taking a lead on the Carlyle Cougars in the first period.

The Carlyle detachment of the RCMP received 44 calls to service between Friday, Jan. 10 and Thursday, Jan. 16. 911 calls A 911 call was placed by a family in the Carlyle area as a child's head had become stuck between rails. The child was unstuck.

Almost exactly one year ago Carlyle and surrounding area was plagued by physician recruitment difficulties and the temporary closure of the Arcola Hospital.
