In June of 2010 the Moose Mountain Lions were formed with the assistance of Carlyle and Kipling Lions Clubs. "We were approached by the other clubs about starting it," Stuart Balfour, president of the Moose Mountain Lions, explained.

A few weeks ago a severe ice storm hit the Great Toronto Area (GTA), and it have left millions of dollars in property damage. Myriads of trees were broken down and thousands of residences suffered an extended power outage.

I saw a miracle today. Lying inside an incubator in the neonatal intensive care unit was a baby boy born one week before Christmas--and many, many weeks before he was supposed to.

This week I packed my suitcase, stocked a small cooler with food, gathered up my laptop along with a pile of printed notes and then I left. After months of waffling I'd finally made the decision to head out of town.

On January 16th, the Cougars travelled to Oxbow for a regular league game. Since this was a late game our Cougars got off to a slow start with the Oxbow Huskies taking a lead on the Carlyle Cougars in the first period.

The Carlyle detachment of the RCMP received 44 calls to service between Friday, Jan. 10 and Thursday, Jan. 16. 911 calls A 911 call was placed by a family in the Carlyle area as a child's head had become stuck between rails. The child was unstuck.

Almost exactly one year ago Carlyle and surrounding area was plagued by physician recruitment difficulties and the temporary closure of the Arcola Hospital.

Sask. Housing made several changes to their policies in July last year and the repercussions of which is now being seen with the rental units in Carlyle.

Cornerstone Family and Youth (CFY) held their annual general meeting at the Carlyle Public Library on Jan. 16 where a new board was selected for 2014.
